Full sized arcade games were one of the most important inventions to take the gaming industry by storm. Once games entered into popular culture, they never really did leave. These are some of the most recognizable and beloved games of all time: 

Pacman

When you think of arcade games, Pacman is probably the first game that comes to mind (and for good reason). The simplistic graphics and iconic dot-eating sound has influenced audiences all over the world. This game became so popular that merchandise was quickly made: shirts, lunchboxes, keychains–everything Pacman! Now you can find this game among other arcade games for sale on various devices. 

Tetris

Another influential and beloved game that has touched both serious and casual gamers is Tetris! Both a puzzle and a video game, Tetris made its mark in the gaming industry by attracting all kinds of audiences. If you ask any person on the street to name a classic video game, they might just say Tetris as one of them!

Wii Sports

One of the most recent video games to make its way into popular culture is Wii Sports. When the Wii came out, this game was included with its purchase. If you haven’t heard of Super Mario Bros., then you’ve probably been living under a rock for forty some years. Most people know of the classic Mario and Luigi duo who are constantly dodging shells and collecting coins on their way to save the princess. The game was released in 1985 and even had a live-action film made in 1993. Super Mario Bros. is truly a pop culture phenomenon. 

Angry Birds

Serious gamers may find it a travesty to see Angry Birds on any list of popular games. However, this game truly changed the world of mobile gaming. Starting as an app on smartphones, this game was addictive for children and adults. Plus, the Angry Birds franchise started churning out stuffed animals and phone cases to quench the thirst of Angry Birds fans. 

Minecraft

While a more recent game, Minecraft appealed to simplistic sensibilities and creative-minded individuals. The Minecraft franchise exploded when people started building whole worlds inside the game. It just so happens that businesses have actually claimed private servers in order to meet their clients and discuss business strategies! Now THAT’S influential.
